Mini Concentration Art Proposal

For my mini art concentration proposal at first I thought I wanted to do something basketball related because it’s what I’ve been doing for a huge part of my life and I thought I would enjoy doing pieces revolved around that sport. The only problem with doing pieces that involve basketball was that I felt it was so typical for me to do and I didn’t want to go with what I was expected to do. As I was doing one of my Friday sketches, I decided to do a drawing on organic nature and I as I went online to find ideas, I came across pictures of wolves and found a fascination with them and just knew I wanted to draw them being in their natural habitats.

I came to the conclusion that I want to do three pieces of two wolves in search for each other in order to be together because they’re in love for my art concentration. I want my first picture to be of a white wolf on a cliff of mountain, howling in the moonlight to get in contact with the wolf she’s searching for. I want the other picture to be of a black wolf in the forest by a body of water with trees in the background and have the wolf howling in the moonlight to try to get in contact with the white wolf. I want the third picture to be of both of the wolves together howling into the moonlight in the forest on the ground with trees in the background. I want one of the wolves to be black and the other wolf to be white because I also wanted to show that love is love and that color of skin doesn’t matter. In the pieces the wolves don’t care and since they want to be together they’re going to be there and get to each other no matter what it takes.

I want the focus to be on the wolves, so they will be drawn with pencil with a lot of detail.

I will do these pieces with a scale of drawing pencils and incorporate watercolor in them. The 3 pictures will be medium sized as well. Some artists that inspired my pieces were Denise M. DesLauriers , Carla Kurt, and Sharron Girdwood.

Too Short

Artist of painting for color scheme: Andrew Yelenak

People perceive me as being short, but I see myself as doing big things! I am the short green person at the bottom holding the brain, which is supposed to be the basketball because my head is in the game. I am also the person in green dunking the brain because I see myself doing something big, like dunking. The two defenders are in red because they symbolize stopping me from doing what I see myself doing and they also say "woulda" and "coulda" on them because they think that I can't do what I know I can do. The word "Did" on the back of my jersey is showing that I did what they thought I couldn't do.

Webquest Artist Discovery

1. Albrecht Durer
2. Fiona Rae
3. Jean-Michel Basquiat

I like Albrecht Durer's style of art because I love drawing and I love how good he is about being detailed in work. I love how it looks so real. Fiona Rae's artwork is enjoyable to me because it really draws my attention and it makes me look at it to try to figure out what's going on in the picture. I also like the deep colors she uses in her pieces.I like Jean-Michel Basquiat's work because he makes a childlike idea look really cool and interesting. I also like his work because I feel like the colors really capture my attention.
